I Dream of Jeannie exhibit in blockhouse

Display location: Museum blockhouse

The television series "I Dream of Jeannie" was created during the heyday of manned space flight. The show's central character, a genie named Jeannie, was portrayed by Barbara Eden. All activity in the program centered in the nearby town of Cocoa Beach and "Cape Kennedy" a short-lived generic name for all the Cape Canaveral launch sites.

Over the years, Barbara Eden made several trips to the Cape and local area to participate in events recognizing the extremely popular show and the character she portrayed in it. On one early trip, she visited the museum and even launched a weather rocket from Launch Complex 43.
